For the very first time, the ONE PIECE Card Game will be participating in an official collaboration with a football club. As part of the BVB x ONE PIECE event—a collab with German powerhouse Borussia Dortmund—which will run from 24 March to 5 April 2025, BANDAI will be releasing a special Dortmund-themed reprint of the Monkey D. Luffy card from The Three Brothers [ST-13].
About Monkey D. Luffy (The Three Brothers [ST-13] ST13-003)
This card is likely to draw much appeal because it’s specifically tied to the BVB x ONE PIECE event. In the top-left corner of the card, the Borussia Dortmund logo can be seen. Luffy is also shown wearing a Dortmund jersey and is standing in front of a version of the Dortmund logo that’s been modified to say “LUFFY” instead of the usual “BVB 09”. This particular Luffy card was chosen for the event’s promotional reprint because it’s a Black/Yellow Luffy card—Dortmund’s club colors.
On that note, this card has had significant gameplay viability as well. The card’s original version is the centerpiece of the Black/Yellow Luffy deck which has been one of the strongest in the current metagame; however, that may change with the upcoming card bans to take effect on 1 April 2025. That being said, even if the Black/Yellow Luffy deck does fall off, it likely won’t impact the demand for or value of the Dortmund version of the card.
